SPREAD AWARENESS

It is extremely important to make people, both men and women, aware about the causes and symptoms of Breast Cancer, especially in India. In India I have realized that there is a lot of stigma surrounding Breast Cancer and hence many women avoid going for check ups. This unfortunately, causes delays in diagnosing Breast Cancer and hence reduces the chances of getting a proper treatment and high survival. Hence, if you want to contribute to the cause of Breast Cancer, spread awareness about it in your community, tell people about the importance of monthly self-breast examinations and if anyone has a doubt or if anyone finds something suspicious, Prashanti and similar organizations worldwide is always there to help. If you are a 40 years or older, please make sure to carry out a Self-Breast Examination every month and make sure to have a yearly mammography. Remember, EARLY DIAGNOSIS SAVES LIVES!

VOLUNTEER

All NGOs like Prashanti Cancer Care Mission require volunteers to help them with small, but important tasks like spreading awareness about the cause of their organization. In today's age, social media plays a very important role in spreading any valuable message and as today's youth, we are equipped with social media skills. These skills can be used to help these organizations, especially organizations working towards causes like Breast Cancer awareness. Hence, if you have spare time or if you are interested in making a change in the society, volunteer in PCCM or similar organizations in your neighbourhood.

SUPPORT THE PATIENTS

Breast Cancer is incredibly hard to deal with and it is very important to show this understanding to patients. It is vital to show the patients that you are there for them from prognosis right up to the treatment. Emotional support plays a huge role in ensuring the success of the treatment. Thus, spend some time to show your love and support to the patients and assure them that everything will be normal in no time. It is also a good idea to talk to doctors and understand how exactly you can help the patients.

DONATE

Breast Cancer treatment can be very expensive which results into few people choosing not to get treated at all. Hence, if possible you can donate money to organizations which work towards providing affordable cancer treatment to underprivileged patients. Another area which is in need of funds is Breast Cancer Research. Hence, you can also donate funds to organizations like PCCM or universities which are carrying out research on cancer and its treatment options.
